Dietger Damiaens third in European Enduro Championships in Italy
Last weekend the European Enduro Championship opened with a race in Fabriano, Italy. Dietger Damiaens finished third in his class (E3) and 11th overall. Damiaens had to deal with falls on Saturday and a lot of rain on Sunday.
Dietger Damiaens: Saturday didn't start well with 2 crashes in the 1st enduro test in which I had a hard time all day. Fortunately, I was able to make up for something on the cross test every lap by setting consistently good times. Unfortunately, on the last special in the extreme test I crashed twice and lost a lot of time. This caused me to drop 2 places in the overall standings. A day with simply too many mistakes.
Sunday was a completely different game. It started raining on Saturday evening and it hasn't stopped raining. As a result, they removed the cross test. Felt better on the difficult enduro special and the riding went quite well. Too bad about the 2nd round where I crashed twice in the enduro and extreme test. But ended the weekend with a strong final round by setting a top 2 time overall twice.
Now back to work to better prepare for the 2nd round in Portugal within a month.
