Ruben Fernandez wants to get the red plate
After a very successful MXGP in Argentina, Team HRC's Ruben Fernandez heads to the island of Sardinia in Italy for the second round of the 2023 MXGP World Championship where the deep sands of Riola Sardo await. Fernandez won the first ever MXGP victory and took the overall standings with five results.
He will now attempt to clinch the championship leader's red plate after a change to the points system means qualifying races will count towards the title but not towards the weekend's overall standings.
Ruben Fernandez: “Normally I wouldn't be so excited about going to Sardinia because it's not my favorite track, but after winning the opening race in Argentina I can't wait for another race. The support and messages from everyone are great and it's just a dream come true to win an MXGP. This is something you grow up loving, to stand on top of the stage and hear the national anthem played in front of you. And now that I've experienced that, my goal is to make that happen as often as possible.”
