Mikkola Racing active in two countries
The composition of Mikkola racing was announced last weekend at the Langenberg farm. In a full house, all drivers were able to meet their new colleagues. In 2023, Mikkola will again be active at the FAM competitions of VMCF and MCLB, with a strong trip to the Northern French FFM championship.
The main board was also expanded with Geoffrey Moeyaerts who will be responsible for domestic competitions, freeing up chairman Heikki Declercq for foreign assignments. The team officially starts the 27th season with a large group of sponsors, including newcomers Yamaha De Baets, Husqvarna Belgium, Support 4 you and Printing Wybon, who immediately made an important contribution to the composition of the group. The West Flemish team officially starts the season in Ninove and Blargies in France on March 26.
After the super year 2022 for the team, some changes were made. For example, the friendship with French champion Jeremy Coen was not extended as Coen's ambitions no longer fit within the team's philosophy. He was replaced by Stephane Watel who will start in the FFM on the De Baets Yamaha with an addition to VMCF.
In Belgium, vice champion Mark Boot remains the spearhead on his Technicross Husqvarna while the young Brent Van De Walle is very ambitious and heads to Europe on the Yamaha 125cc. Other newcomers are Jonas Hanart (Uloften), Noah Deboutez (Juniors MX2), Mavric Pichrit (Nationals) and Christophe De Baets, who was injured in Goes. VMCF champions Noa Fornier and Dailey Van De Ketterij also extended their agreement for 2023.
Since all youth riders of the team are switching to the official competition, a brand new youth program was also created around the two 65 cc pilots Dani Verbrugge and Mylan Rombaut. The medical supervision remains in the hands of Doctor Erik Vandeputte and the mechanism runs smoothly with the Denicol oil and the hands of Dean Schallon. Team Mikkola is ready to go.
