Jayson van Drunen is many bars too strong in Zijtaart
Last Saturday the first race for the MX2 youth riders of the Motorsport Organization Netherlands was on the program in Zijtaart. It was guest rider Jayson van Drunen who was many sizes too big for the rest of the field. He won both heats with a lead of 1:05 minutes and 1.48 minutes. Alex van Weerdenberg was “best of the rest” with two second places and therefore finished in second place in the daily rankings. With this he started well in the battle for the title in this class and collected the full 120 points. Belgian Troy Dendooven finished in third place with a fourth and third place in the heats. After a third place in the first heat, Amani Saraç fell out of the podium in fourth place with a fifth place in the second heat. Fifth place was again for a guest driver with the German Philipp Garcke.
First heat
It was Van Weerdenburg who took care of the holeshot. He was passed by van Drunen in the first lap. Dendooven, Saraç and Stein Kanters followed. The battle for the first two places was quickly over. Van Drunen quickly rode away from the rest of the field and took the heat victory. Van Weerdenburg, in turn, quickly gained an eight-second lead over Dendooven and his second place was no longer in danger. Dendooven was in third place for a long time, but it was Saraç who managed to maintain the pace for longer in the final phase of the heat. Two laps before the checkered flag he passed Dendooven to finish third. For Dendooven there was nothing left but fourth place. Well behind, Kanters crashed on the third lap and it was Garcke, among others, who took advantage of this and took over fifth place. After this he quickly drove away from Bob Freriks to see the checkered flag in fifth.
Second heat
It was again van Weerdenburg who took the holeshot ahead of van Drunen, Saraç, Kanters and Boyd Eilers. Even faster than in the first heat, the battle for places of honor in the second heat was over. Van Drunen now rode away even faster from the rest and crossed the finish line somewhat disappointed with a lead of 1.48 minutes. He failed to beat Van Weerdenburg within ten seconds, who was the only one who managed to stay on the same lap and ended up in second place. Dendooven quickly worked his way up to finish fourth after the first lap. On the following lap he also passed Kanters and in turn quickly pulled away from the rest to finish third. For Kanters this was the start of a setback and he soon saw Saraç and Garcke pass him by. Saraç was in fourth place for almost the entire moto, but in the last lap Garcke took his chance and passed him and ended the moto in fourth place ahead of Saraç.
