Hunter Lawrence struggles to victory
Hunter Lawrence took his third win of the season at the Daytona International Speedway. The Honda rider won round four of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship 250SX East Coast ahead of Max Anstie and Haiden Deegan. Tom Vialle was in the lead for a while, but he lost it and crashed a little later.
In the final over 15 minutes and a lap, Anstie takes the best start ahead of Nate Trasher and Vialle. The Yamaha rider briefly takes the lead, but in the second corner it is the reigning MX2 world champion who takes the lead. Lawrence quickly moves into third place and in the loose sand he collides with Trasher, who falls. The Australian quickly passes Vialle and when he crashes in the first full lap, Lawrence is out of the picture. The Honda rider wins ahead of Anstie and Deegan. The 17-year-old rider battles with the very experienced Jeremy Martin, but he falls briefly in the battle. Jordon Smith, former winner at Daytona, crosses the finish line in fourth ahead of Martin. Trasher crashes for the second time later in the final and has to be satisfied with tenth place.
Next week the championship will be hosted in Indianapolis.
