Geerts wins the qualification for De Wolf
Jago Geerts won the second qualification of the season at the “Crossodromo Comunale Le Dune”. The Yamaha rider won ahead of Kay de Wolf, who came closer, especially in the final phase. The Husqvarna rider comes second ahead of 18-year-old Simon Laengenfelder. Liam Everts is the second Belgian, he is sixth, immediately followed by fellow countryman Lucas Coenen.
The best start goes to Oriol Oliver who takes the lead on the WZ-KTM ahead of Geerts and his teammate Thibault Benistant. The Spaniard quickly loses places and a little later he crashes. In the second corner Laengenfelder made a nice turn outside to take second place. The German tries to track down leader Geerts, but he does not let that happen. After eight minutes, De Wolf takes second place from the GasGas driver. The rider from Eersel does not seem to be able to connect with Geerts, but in the final phase it still becomes exciting. The 22-year-old World Cup leader will not let himself be passed and he wins for De Wolf. Third place goes to Laengenfelder ahead of Benistant and Kevin Horgmo.
Everts is good for sixth place, followed by Coenen, his teammate Roan van de Moosdijk has to be satisfied with ninth place for Rick Elzinga who takes the last point.
Tomorrow at 13:15 PM and 16:10 PM, both heats will be held at the Riola Sardo circuit. The images can be viewed LIVE via MXGP-TV, the DiscoveryPlus app and the Belgian Playsports!
