The Trance X Advanced E+ Elite: Giant's lightest Full-Suspension E-MTB
Giant has launched its new Trance X Advanced E+ Elite: Giant's lightest full suspension e-mountain bike ever. Partly thanks to the completely new EnergyPak battery, this bicycle is no less than 4 kilos lighter than the previous generation. This makes the Trance X Advanced E+ Elite the lightest full-power e-mountain bike in the world.
The lower overall weight, together with the SyncDrive Pro motor (maximum torque of 85 Nm), ensures that riders can conquer the most challenging climbs and technical courses. They have more control, confidence and greater agility.
The Trance X Advanced E+ Elite has the proven Maestro rear suspension. This provides 140 millimeters of rear suspension travel for control on rough singletrack. In combination with a 150 millimeter suspension fork and a mullet wheel configuration (a 29-inch wheel at the front for stability and high rolling capacity; a 27,5-inch wheel at the rear for better maneuverability), there is a great balance between playfulness, responsive handling and control on the trails.
The full-carbon frameset has a flip chip at the rear suspension. This allows riders to quickly change the frame geometry and adapt the bike's handling characteristics to their riding style and the terrain.
LOWER WEIGHT
Whether you're climbing steep singletrack, accelerating on fast, flowy trails or technical terrain, the right power-to-weight ratio is crucial for the performance of an e-mountain bike. With this in mind, Giant has worked on the design and development of the Trance X Advanced E+ Elite. The top model Trance X Advanced E+ Elite 0 weighs 18,8 kilos, which is 4 kilos less than the previous generation.
Most lightweight e-mountain bikes on the market have a smaller capacity battery for a lower overall weight. But that does not apply to the Trance X Advanced E+ Elite. This has a battery with a new cell technology that has been specially developed for e-bike use.
The EnergyPak 400, which was created together with Panasonic and weighs only 2,3 kilos, has cells with a larger volume. These ensure that the engine can deliver full power, while the battery is half as light as previous generations. The shape of the engine has been optimized to work well with Giant's proven Maestro rear suspension. It's the same setup that has used Giant Factory Off-Road Team's Josh Carlson to multiple national championships and EWS-E podium finishes.
To be precise, the battery is equipped with the new 22700 cell type, the first in the world developed specifically for e-bikes. The battery contains a total of 20 cells, the same number as in most lightweight e-bikes, but these larger cells have a higher discharge capacity. Their unique size and chemical composition keep them cooler, putting less strain on the system and increasing overall lifespan.
The Trance This applies to all elements of this e-mountain bike, from the full-carbon frameset (Advanced-grade carbon) to the innovative Contact SLR Trail one-piece handlebar/stem combination.
FULL CONTROL
The Trance X Advanced E+ Elite 0 and Trance This integrated combination of a handlebar and stem provides adjustability, compliance, low weight and a sleek profile. Weighing only 1 grams, the handlebar unit has the advantage of a one-piece handlebar and stem and also offers the adjustment options of a conventional setup. Riders can choose the stem length (255, 40 or 45 millimeters) and turn the handlebars for the desired angle.
The proprietary carbon lay-up and slimmer profile in the center of the handlebars provide greater compliance. This helps absorb shock and vibration, reducing strain on the arm and providing greater comfort on rough terrain. Cables run through the headset for sleek looks and an additional mounting point offers the option to add accessories such as lighting.
The Trance X Advanced E+ Elite has two control units. First of all, there is the RideControl Go, which is integrated into the top tube of the frame. Riders can quickly and easily switch the support on and off and switch between the different modes. Colored LED indicators indicate battery level and support mode.
The second control unit, the new RideControl Ergo 3, is integrated into the handlebar grips. The handles of the Trance The control has three buttons that can be set based on personal preference. The controls fit on both sides of the handlebars and there is an option to add a second RideControl Ergo 3. You then have buttons on two sides to operate various functions, such as walk assist and lighting.
MORE POWER
The new SyncDrive Pro is the most powerful motor in Giant's e-bike range. With a torque of 85 Nm and an assistance ratio of 400 percent, it delivers a dynamic driving experience on any type of terrain. Whether you're tackling long climbs or shifting gears at low speeds on technical terrain, you'll get immediate support that feels smooth and natural.
The motor is optimized for the Trance X Advanced E+ Elite and weighs only 2,7 kilos. It has an automatic support mode, Smart Assist. This technology uses six sensors to determine the precise amount of support needed during rides on varying terrain. Smart Assist also maximizes battery efficiency.
ADVANCED TUNING FEATURES
The Trance X Advanced E+ Elite offers advanced options for tuning the engine. The maximum torque level can be changed for all five assistance modes via the RideControl App. In addition, 'launch control' can be used to set how quickly the engine reaches the maximum set torque. This gives the opportunity to adapt engine performance to the terrain and personal preferences. For example, you can choose a lower torque for rides in the lower assistance levels and a higher torque in the higher levels. This way you increase the range while maintaining maximum power when you need it most.
Two models of the new Trance X Advanced E+ Elite are available in the Benelux. The Trance X Advanced E+ Elite 0 is the flagship of the series. This has a suggested retail price of 13.499 euros. There is also the Trance X Advanced E+ Elite 1 with a suggested retail price of 9.999 euros.
