Greg Smets injury update
Greg Smets, who was injured during training on the Lommel track last week, has just announced that surgery will be required before he can consider a return to riding. After both ankles were injured during a jump at the Lommel circuit, medical examinations revealed a fracture in the right ankle that will require surgery. Greg Smets will undergo surgery this Tuesday.
Greg Smets: “After misjudging a jump in Lommel last weekend, I had a rough landing that resulted in hyper dorsiflexion in both my ankles. This means that I have bent my ankles much further than is normally possible, from toes to shins in fact. After a check-up at the hospital yesterday, the doctor determined that pieces of bone had broken off in my right ankle. An operation is necessary and is already scheduled for next Tuesday."
