Gaerne comes with a newly designed boot: the SG22
“Gaerne is putting new horsepower on the ground”. This slogan is the common thread for the presentation of the new Gaerne SG.22 motocross boots. A model that represents the natural evolution of the esteemed SG.60 for the historic Treviso company, founded 12 years ago by Ernesto Gazzola.
The translation of the English term “horsepower” refers not only to ability, but also to commitment and to the strength of actions and decisions. And it is precisely this spirit that has guided Gaerne at every stage of the research and development process.
Soul, mind and body focused on a single goal: creating a high-performance boot, able to combine Made in Italy craftsmanship with cutting-edge materials and technical solutions. Every part, every detail of the SG.22 has been refined thanks to this mentality.
The first innovation is the new 3D Main Body Toe Box, which has a three-dimensional construction, characterized by a single connecting element on the outside at the closing lever. It also provides a reduced height between the sole and the gear lever.
The Aluminum Superlight Buckles buckles stand out thanks to a new lacquered finish, and the improvements aren't just aesthetic. In addition to the classic strap adjustment, the SG.22's top locking lever can be adjusted in three positions. A system that, in combination with the two positions of the new frontal shin guard, allows multiple configurations to optimize the fit and facilitate the insertion of knee pads.
At the frontal protection plate, two ventilation openings are provided to allow air to enter and inside in correspondence, 3D channels are designed to create cavities that facilitate the drainage of moisture and the dissipation of heat.
The geometry of the boot has also been changed, so that the boot better “copies” the movements of the ankle. The goal of Gaerne engineers is clear: to improve ergonomics without sacrificing safety. The newly designed Razorback helps to reduce the overall weight of the boot.
The Gaerne Dual Stage Pivot System 1.0 protects the ankle with two limit switches that limit hyperextension, hyperflexion and lateral movements. Internally, the Memory foam 1.0 has also been redesigned. This injected material takes the shape of the ankle and stabilizes the entire foot, so that the foot becomes one with the boot.
The inner leg, in contact with the motorcycle, is equipped with Grip Guard 1.0 rubber elements with a compound developed with professional riders. This improves protection and optimizes the friction coefficient for a better driving feeling.
The sole features dual-density inserts. Their position has been studied to ensure grip and durability without forgetting traction and cushioning when walking. The Microshock heel has a multi-density compound designed to provide protection against micro-impact when cornering.
The new Steel Bumper 1.0 is applied between the sole and the upper. This steel insert makes it possible to reduce thickness, maintain protective capacity and reduce weight.
Good Year Welted
Finally, the unmistakable Goodyear Welted construction that traditionally distinguishes Gaerne boots. This technique makes it possible to create a particularly sturdy and resistant structure. Sustainability thus becomes one of the strengths of any product dedicated to motocross.
It also offers the opportunity to repair the boot (and therefore give it a new life). The Goodyear Welted craft technique finds a new aspect in Gaerne thanks to the use of modern machines that contribute to increasing the quality of the strict Made in Italy production process.
The new SG22 is worn by Romain Febvre, the EnduroGP World Champion Andrea Verona, the Sherco Factory Team with the Junior World Champion Zach Pichon and all the riders of the Honda Enduro Factory Team who were immediately charmed by the weight reduction, the reduction in the height between the sole and the gear lever, guaranteed by the new three-dimensional torso and the reduction of the break-in time, allowing the boot to be worn and used straight away in competition.
Available colors are anthracite/red, white, red and black. The recommended retail price for the Gaerne SG22 is 699 euros.
