Viktor Leppälä triumphs in Lommel
Viktor Leppälä won the first race of the Belgian VLM-JMS 85cc Championship at the Lommel circuit. The AJO Motorsport driver finished second and first, meaning the Finn took the day's victory. Jenairo Beerens managed to cross the finish line in third place in both heats, placing him second in the overall standings. Timo Heuver (2-6) completes the podium on the tough sand circuit of Lommel.
Bervoets is in the lead in the first round of the race, but in the third laps he disappears from the race. Leppälä takes control and he does not relinquish it. The Finn, on the EMX2021 podium in Riola Sardo in 65 with Lucas Leok and Dex van den Broek, wins the first round for Heuver. The JP Xtreme Xperience rider works his way up from fifth place to finish second. Beerens finished the first lap in third place, he saw Bervoets drop out, but Heuver was faster, meaning the Limburger crossed the finish line in third place ahead of Mik Plaas and Vos Racing Team driver Jannes Vos.
Later in the afternoon, Bervoets took control of the second heat and took the victory. Leppälä takes second place and is therefore assured of the day's victory. Beerens drives a very good race because he does not have his machine in gear when the starting gate drops. The KTM rider comes back very strong to cross the finish line in third place. Vos is now fourth ahead of the unknown Plaas.
