EV startup Graft is launching its first electric off-road model
Graft, a startup for eelectric vehicles (EV), has started taking orders for the EO.12, its first high-performance electric motorcycle designed for off-road trail riding, competitive enduro and motocross.
With a maximum power of 25 kW (34 hp) and a weight of only 50 kg (including battery), the motor has the highest known power-to-weight ratio in the off-road e-bike market and is the first in the world with carbon wheels. Priced in packages ranging from €12-€8.000 (depending on setup and battery size), the EO.11.800 is the first in Graft's fleet of off-road recreational vehicles that will share fully interchangeable battery packs.
After two years of development and extensive testing, EV startup Graft has begun commercial production of its first high-performance, off-road electric motorcycle. The EO.12 dirt bikes are designed, developed and produced by a team of passionate engineers and riders. They are hand-built in monthly, made-to-order batches and shipped worldwide from the company's manufacturing workshop in Taipei, Taiwan.
The EO.12 is the first off-road motorcycle in both the petrol and electric markets with carbon fiber wheels, which deliver a 25% weight saving compared to the average motorcycle wheel and a total vehicle weight of 50 kg (including battery). The ultra-lightweight construction ensures excellent agility and easy recovery on challenging, technical trails, and with a maximum power of 25 kW (34 hp), the motorcycle has the highest known power-to-weight ratio for an off-road electric motorcycle.
Combining impressive power with manageable weight and eliminating the need for gear shifting, the bike is easy to ride, making it as attractive to athletes as it is to dirt bike novices.
With a large wheel size (53,34 cm/21 inches), the EO.12 uses an easy-to-use saddle height approved for the average American or European rider. Graft has selected high-quality materials and components that exponentially improve the driving experience, including a luxurious touchscreen display, motorcycle-quality suspension (manufactured by BOS with 3-way adjustability) and a hydraulic bump stop for extra shock absorption.
Parts of the drivetrain are 3D printed in titanium to handle the 440 Nm (324 lb-ft) of torque at the rear wheel, and the frame is CNC-machined from 6061-T6 aluminum billet with a brushed, anodized finish. Graft is the only manufacturer in the world to make motorcycles with CNC-machined billet frames, a production method that provides extra strength and precision and prevents distortion associated with welded frames. The machine is water resistant to IP67 and has a permanently lubricated chain, so very little maintenance is required between rides.
The bike is the first in a family of off-road, recreational vehicles (including motorcycles, ATVs and UTVs) currently being developed by Graft since its launch in 2020. To address a common concern among e-bike riders that battery packs can quickly become outdated due to changing designs in later iterations, Graft has designed each of its vehicles to be compatible with the same lithium-ion battery pack that is completely interchangeable between models and future vehicle generations.
This ten-year battery pack size commitment is intended not only to increase the long-term usability of Graft's vehicles, but also to reduce waste production and the brand's overall environmental impact.
The EO.12 comes with a 15A charger (220V) that takes 1,5 hours to fully charge. Available with full service upgrades, Graft offers the choice between a standard base model and a Factory Team model, with the latter model offering enhanced power specifications and components including a Vibracore lightweight handlebar and a full titanium bolt set. With full aftermarket support and service parts availability, Graft has invested heavily in a seamless post-purchase experience.
