Andrea Adamo, Liam Everts and Sacha Coenen about their match in Ponte a Egola
Yesterday the first Italian international race was held in Ponta a Egola with a lot of beautiful people behind the starting gate. The brand new KTM trio Andrea Adamo, Liam Everts and Sacha Coenen had traveled to the Tuscan hills to prepare for a new season.
The three had joined the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team in the mid-season and so we were looking forward to their performances. Adamo scored a series victory and third place in the final standings. Everts finished fourth after finishing fourth twice in the heats and Sacha Coenen finished in 18th place in the final ranking. Read what they thought of it here.
Andrea Adamo: “We're finally racing again! The weekend was quite good, although unfortunately I had a small crash in the first moto and it was difficult to regain time and positions. The second heat was much easier due to the better start. I kept pushing all the time and took the win. I was very happy with that. I enjoy the team and I work hard with Joel Smets and I am very proud to wear that KTM jersey.”
Liam Evert: “I just missed the podium and was equal on points with Andrea. I'm in a new team with new people and it's a big change, but it went quite well for my first race and the fact that I had a practice crash on Thursday! I'm not super happy with my riding but I now have a base to build on to get ready for the season.”
Sacha Coenen: “Today was my first race with the team, so that was very good, but in terms of result I am a bit disappointed. I didn't have the best feeling on track during qualifying and that is something I need to improve because I made the starts difficult because of the position at the gate. I did my best to get through in the first moto, but it wasn't easy to overtake. The start of my second moto was much better. I was third but had a small tip-over. We will continue to work and see what we can achieve in Arco di Trento.”
