The new design for the EMX65-EMX85
At the end of last year, the FIM Europe unexpectedly introduced a new format for the European Championship 65cc and 85cc. The regions are classified slightly differently, Belgium and the Netherlands now fall under 'Central Europe', while Sweden, for example, will fall under 'North Europe'. All zones will compete in four matches and the best 25 in the standings will advance to the semi-finals. This will be held for us (Central Europe & North-Europe) on the Axel circuit!
The best 20 in the daily rankings after both heats on Sunday afternoon can go to the EMX65-EMX85 final in mid-July at the Loket circuit. A questionable system, if you win the races in your zone and in the first heat in Axel you do not finish due to a broken spark plug or a flat tire, then that is a major setback. If things are really bad, the rider will not be among the best 20 riders in the semi-finals.
