Dakar: Luciano Benavides wins his third stage
Argentinian Husqvarna rider Luciano Benavides won his third stage in the Dakar Rally today. He held off Daniël Sanders and Toby Price at the finish.
Skyler Howes finished fourth but again takes the lead in the standings. Pablo Quintanilla lost 2.54 minutes, Sebastian Bühler appeared again in the top ten ahead of Romain Dumontier. Adrien Van Beveren was also unable to close the gap with the top players today. He scored 17th place. He and his teammate Pablo Quintanilla will have to work hard in the remaining days if they want to close the gap with the top three with their Hondas.
Jérôme Martiny rode as well as ever and finished 34th. Mirjam Pol finished 44th and Wesley Aaldering crossed the finish line in 46th. The standings are again led by Skyler Howes (Husqvarna). However, he only has a narrow lead of 28 seconds over Toby Price (KTM) and 2:24 over Kevin Benavides (KTM). The Hondas of Quintanilla and Van Beveren follow at 15 and 18 minutes respectively.
Stage 12 features a 185 km long special with many dunes. There must be tactical driving between Ardah and Shaybah.
