VIDEO: Ricky Carmichael on the Triumph dirt bike
It doesn't happen very often that a traditional motorcycle brand like Triumph decides to make off-road machines. This announcement caused quite a stir. We haven't had a glimpse of the machine yet, but when we worked in the design department in Hinckley we promptly chose British Racing Green as the color.
Even more important than the color is a machine that is competitive. A brand like Triumph cannot afford to be at the back of the field with a dirt bike that cannot keep up with the competition. In the interview below, Ricky Carmichael says that this fact is well known at Triumph. And he also explains in detail that everything, absolutely everything, is developed in-house. In this way he silences all critics who mentioned a third KTM clone.
During the first days of 2024, Triumph will enter the AMA Supercross with an MX2 bike and that same year they will also participate in the brand new “SuperMotocross” competition and the MX2 World Championship. A year later, Triumph will also participate in the same competitions with a 450cc four-stroke. In the course of 2023 we will see the bikes and know which riders have been recruited to participate in the three competitions.
