Motorcross site in Lille receives a permit for 7 years
Flemish Minister of the Environment Zuhal Demir has granted a conditional environmental permit for further operation of the motocross terrain in Lille. In February, the province already gave permission for further exploitation, but Natuurpunt and some local residents appealed against that decision. They are catching on now.
The permission is subject to a number of conditions. The Regional Environmental Permit Commission (GOVC) only issues a permit for 7 years, and not for the requested 20 years. The GOVC ruled that the dossier was not strong enough. It has been said that additional research is necessary to extend the existing 7-year permit. A search for an alternative terrain or the lack thereof is the subject of this additional research.
The circuit on Rooverstraat in Lille can now continue until 2029. The Heeserbergen in Lommel and the HondaPark in Olmen also received a conditional environmental permit, but these are again being challenged by the Council for Permit Disputes.
