These names will start next year in the Motocross World Championship
The end of the year is always a time to look back and publish lists. However, we are looking ahead and wondering who will start in Patagonia on March 12 next year. The MXGP calendar still has some gaps with the mention of TBA, but that does not stop us from compiling a provisional list of participants.
The MX2 class will be important for the Belgians with the participation of no fewer than four fast compatriots. Jago Geerts gets one last chance to be crowned MX2 world champion because he has to move to the MXGP class in 2024 due to the age limit.
Liam Everts will be present for the second year in 2023 and was given a factory seat by the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team. This means that the objectives will become a bit tougher, the Lummen resident will have to regard the top five as his permanent position and achieving podium places is almost a must.
And then there are the Coenen brothers. Sacha will be able to experience his first full year in the MX2 class as teammate of Liam Everts at KTM. Lucas Coenen will also receive a factory engine and will be under the awning of the Negaan Husqvarna Factory Racing Team. Our northern neighbors are represented in MX2 by Kay Karssemakers, Rick Elzinga, Raf Meuwissen, Kay De Wolf and Roan Van de Moosdijk.
In the class with the 450cc engines, we are looking forward to the performance of Brent Van Doninck. He showed last season that he has a lot to offer. Next year he will be on a Honda from Jacky Martens' JM Honda Racing Team.
On the Dutch side there is the participation of Jeffrey Herlings who will try to become world champion for the sixth time. Glenn Coldenhoff, Calvin Vlaanderen and Brian Bogers are also ready next year to get as far as possible in the MXGP class.
