Wim Mulder is the new director of KNMV
Wim Mulder will become the new director of the Royal Dutch Motorcyclists Association (KNMV). Mulder will start in his new position at the association office at Sports Center Papendal on February 1, 2023.
As a motorcyclist and sports enthusiast through and through, Wim Mulder (54) has been active within the KNMV for more than a quarter of a century. First as an official for a long time and for the past ten years as a member of the Supervisory Board (specialized in safety and the environment, among other things) and vice-chairman. He combined this with his job as director at Philips and work for the international motor sports association FIM (Europe). He will soon exchange all this for the full-time position of director.
Mulder: “From road safety to insurance and from training to all those wonderful branches of motorsport that the KNMV represents: the KNMV and motorcycles are part of who I am. The fact that I now have the opportunity to fully invest my time and energy in the interests of motorcycling in the Netherlands makes me proud and happy. I can't wait to get started with clubs, officials, council members, partners, governments, colleagues in the office and all other stakeholders. Many challenges lie ahead, including in the areas of noise and sustainability. Together we will tackle this to make motorcycling and sports even more fun, accessible, safer and more responsible.”
KNMV chairman Jan Wilms is pleased with Mulder's appointment: “The collaboration with Wim has been pleasant and constructive for years. The fact that we are now taking this step together feels very natural and good for everyone involved. His passion for absolutely everything that has to do with motorcycles is admirable. That, combined with his knowledge and ambition, gives every confidence for the future of the KNMV, and therefore the Dutch motorcycle world. We are a large, relevant association and that position will only become stronger under Wim.”
Mulder replaces Patrice Assendelft at the KNMV, who is leaving after sixteen years for the Royal Dutch Equestrian Sports Federation (KNHS). This changing of the guard at both unions will become a reality early next year.
