Test: The tPump XL battery air pump from Coolado
We had previously tested a battery air pump from Bosch and now the focus is on a new model from the Coolado company. The tPump XL is the heaviest pump in the brand's range and can be classified under the banner "semi-professional". This is because the pump distinguishes itself from the competition by its pumping speed and complete equipment.
What is it?
A portable air pump with an internal battery that can be charged via the mains or a USB port. There is also the option to charge via a cigarette lighter in the car. The pump is multifunctional because it is suitable for inflating car tires, motorcycle tires, bicycle tires, caravan and camper tires or a football.
In contrast to the competitors' devices, the Coolado tPump XL is equipped with a double cylinder, which increases the pump flow considerably. The regular pumps that you can buy here and there work fine, but it takes a very long time to put pressure on a tire. Suppose you have to inflate four car tires, then you will quickly be busy for 15 minutes.
Also for motorcycles?
Yes. The device is also made for motorcycle tires, including those of a dirt bike. So the tPump XL is suitable to take with you to the cross, but it can also be stored perfectly in your backpack or suitcase of your road motorcycle. It is crucial for a motocross or enduro rider to be able to quickly pressurize or re-inflate tires after replacing a flat inner tube. In addition, the pump can be used as a flashlight, warning lamp, SOS lamp and as a charger for your mobile phone. Inside there is a powerful motor that drives two cylinders to quickly pressurize a tire with a lot of flow. You can reduce pressure with the handy valve on the tire inflator.
What's in the package?
The least you can say about this pump is that it is very fully equipped. In addition to the pump itself, the box contains a range of accessories for bicycle tires, car and motorcycle tires, sports balls, a charger for a cigarette lighter, a USB cable and a charger for the mains.
Strong figures
Coolado claims that a bicycle tire can be brought from 12 to 0 bar in 3 seconds. Inflating a car tire to 2.4 bar would only take 2:30 minutes. That requires a test. We took a bicycle and a dirt bike rear wheel and did the test in the video below.
The verdict
This pump completely lives up to its promises. Motocross riders constantly play with tire pressure and with this device, quickly inflating or releasing pressure is child's play. There is one downside. When setting the pressure you have little time to start the pump, the indicated pressure quickly returns to zero. For the rest, nothing but praise, the device does what it promises. She pumps 40 liters per minute and can inflate a flat car tire in 2,5 minutes. The tPump XL is suitable for the tires of an SUV, minibus, camper, caravan, car, motorcycle, bicycle, and sports balls. The pump costs 129 euros and can be ordered on this website: https://www.coolado.com/nl
