Mulders/Van de Wiel are many sizes too strong on the home circuit
Last weekend the penultimate match of the Protempo Cup took place in Bergharen. It was Frank Mulders/Aivar van de Wiel who were many sizes too big for the rest of the field on their home circuit. With a lead of 51 seconds and 35 seconds, the duo won both heats. With a second and third place in the sidecar inters, it was Kevin Vaerenberg/Jens Mans who managed to take second place. Davy Ebben/Jop Susuebeek were able to collect the third place cup after finishing fourth and third in the heats. Aaron Bens/Joep van Leuken and Patrick Greup/Marc van Deutekom completed the top five.
Leaders in the battle for the Dutch title and the Protempo Cup Björn van den Heuij/Sten van den Heuij had their worst day of the season. With a seventh and tenth place, this combination only collected 76 points for the championship and 70 points for the Protempo cup. However, Visscher/Visscher, Van Wanrooij/van Wanrooij, Greup/van Duetekom and de Schepper/Gielkens hardly or simply did not benefit from this. As a result, the duo will start the last match in Meijel with an 80-point lead in the championship and 40 points in the battle for the Protempo cup. With a depreciation of 86 and 70 points, there is a good chance that the duo will win both titles.
In the sidecar nationals, Max Bevers/Tayim Kaethoven took the full 120 points. In the first heat the duo still had to deal with Boyd Verhees/Peer Verhees. However, in the second moto they were supreme and won the moto with a lead of 1 minute 24 over Rik Senders/Pim Lambrechts. Second place went to Rik Senders/Pim Lambrechts and Leopold Lenaerts/Sebastiaan Lenaerts also reached the podium with third place. In the championship, Bevers/Kaethoven lead by 61 points over Senders/de Louw and Lambrechts. If Bevers/Kaethoven manages to stay ahead of that duo in Meijel in the first round, then the championship will be a fact.
