Tausch and Buitenhuis win mud fight in Overloon
In Overloon, Jacky Tausch again took victory in the MX open inters class. On a muddy Duivenbos circuit, the Elshouter managed to win both heats and thus extended his lead in the championship to 134 points over Bram van den Hoek. Second place went to Loeka Thonies. He kept Erik de Bruyn behind him with a third and second place based on the second heat. Bram van den Hoek had to make do with fourth place twice at the MX open inters and thus also finished fourth in the daily rankings. Tristan Evers completed the top five with an eighth and fifth place in the maches.
In the MX 2 inters class, the day's victory went to Kevin Buitenhuis with a first and second place in the heats. Championship leader Jelle Bankers kept the damage limited with third and first place in the heats and finished second in the overall standings. With fourth and third place in the heats, the last place on the podium went to Jamie Lucas.
First heat
It was Tausch who had the best start ahead of de Bruyn, Jeffrey van Kempen, van den Hoek and Ilja Rutten. However, the necessary shifts soon took place behind the backs of Tausch and de Bruyn. Van de Hoek moved up to third place. After a mediocre start, Thonies finished fourth and behind it there seemed to be a fight for fifth place between van Kempen, Michon Voets and Ilja Rutten. Tausch and de Bruyn already had a lead over the rest of the field, but the lead now belonged to de Bruyn. On the third lap Tausch regained the lead and De Bruyn quickly had to let him go. Despite the difficult circuit, Tausch's leading position was no longer in danger and he won the round by a wide margin ahead of de Bruyn. Halfway through the moto he overtook and passed Thonies van den Hoek to finish the moto in third. Van den Hoek saw the checkered flag in fourth position. Behind it, it was Van Kempen who fought back to fifth place and pulled away from the competition. However, in the final phase of the heat it was Kevin Buitenhuis who caught up and passed him and took the heat victory at the MX 2 inters.
Second heat
Before the start, MON and the riders who had taken the trouble to report to the trap were discussed whether there would still be standing in the interclass. The circuit had now turned into a body of water due to a new rain shower, but six MX open inters and five MX 2 inters still started. It was Tausch again with the best start for Thonies, van den Hoek, de Bruyn and Evers. Van den Hoek quickly took second place and Bankers was supreme in the MX 2 interclass and came in fifth place. Van den Hoek was quickly thrown back to fourth place due to a fall. Despite a fall, Tausch's heat victory was no longer in danger and Thonies took second place at almost fifty seconds. Van de Hoek benefited from a fall from De Bruyn and was briefly in third place. However, it was De Bruyn who ultimately saw the checkered flag in third place and Van den Hoek also had to leave fourth place to Bankers due to another fall.
