The MX-Masterplan Foundation donates €25.000 to the yellow flag system TCD Hummelo
TCD Hummelo is the first motocross club in the Netherlands to receive a contribution from the MX Masterplan for the installation of a safety system that allows riders to train more safely.
The MX Masterplan Foundation supports projects related to improving safety for motocross riders. The foundation does this, among other things, by supporting clubs with knowledge, making contacts, but also with a financial contribution. The MX Masterplan pays for half the costs of installing a digital flag system, up to a maximum of €25.000. The club then owns the system itself. The role of the foundation is the financial contribution and bringing the clubs and suppliers together. If necessary, the foundation supervises this process.
Johan Hartemink chairman of TCD Hummelo:
“A lot of experience is currently being gained with the yellow flag system that has been installed around our track. This system is already fully in use, but is currently being further refined based on various factors that influence the operation of the system on our track. For example, some positions are still adjusted too sensitively. To improve this, we prune the sides a little better and we have slightly adjusted the field of view of the camera. Once or twice a week, a short email to the supplier who responds quickly and adequately and things have improved again!”
Although the safety system that TCD Hummelo uses around its track is still being perfected, training is already taking place while the system is in operation. It would be better to have a flashing lamp a little more often that later turned out to be unnecessary, than a system that completely misses a fallen rider. The first drivers have already driven on the track with the system in operation. Their responses show that the system makes them feel safer.
Johan Hartemink:
“TCD Hummelo is very happy with the donation from the MX Masterplan for the purchase of the system. Thanks to this donation from the MX Master Plan, it becomes possible for the club to look ahead and possibly make further adjustments to improve safety and sustainability on and around the track.”
