Belgium wins and loses in the 1st Sidecar Nations heat
Sidecarteam Belgium scored mixed during the first heat of the Sidecarcross of Nations in the Czech Republic. Vanluchene/Bax did well and won the heat. However, Vandaele/Soenens scored poorly, meaning that Belgium, without using a scrap result, sees itself outside the top five in the overall result of the heat. The Netherlands did the best in third place (Bax/Cermak) and fifth place (Van Werven/Van den Boogaart), followed by Great Britain and Latvia.
There was a big start for home rider Cerny/Chopin, but Boukal's other Czech team had a hard start at the start. They could continue, but immediately Jantje was laughing, Jantje was crying for the home team. This ultimately also applied to team Belgium. Vandaele was first well in second place, but made a mistake in the second round and ended up upside down on the track. They could then continue, but a little later they came to a standstill and they could forget about a good ranking. How different it was with teammates Vanluchene/Bax! Starting from the second row they came forward spectacularly. First with a nice overtaking action on the new World Champions Bax/Cermak, around the outside in the second corner, and then by outwitting both Brown and the Swiss Heinzer with one action. With one action they went from four to two and a little later they took the lead from Cerny. Vanluchene/Bax ultimately won and deservedly ahead of the British Brown/Chamberlain in second place. Third place went to Bax/Cermak. They had already reached two, made a mistake and fell back to four. Ultimately, Heinzer was able to take back third place. Heinzer/Betschart then took fourth place with Van Werven/Van den Boogaart in fifth place. The Netherlands, for example, did the best, taking place three and five, without taking into account a deletion result, and with this they scored the fewest penalty points.
