World champion Gajser the best in Saint-Jean-d'Angély
After Jeremy Seewer's win in series one, it was now Tim Gajser's turn. He had a fantastic finish in the second series and thus won the GP.
In the second series, Spanish GasGas rider Jorge Prado was the fastest to leave the starting gate. He led the field, taking Maxime Renaux and Jeremy Seewer in second and third. Tim Gajser came in fifth but quickly managed to make up a place. Van Horebeek did not start again in this series due to the crash in the opening moto.
The first four riders were very close to each other after four laps because the pressure came from Tim Gajser who pressed everything together. Seewer took a lot of risks to get past leader Prado, the Swiss' triple jumps were almost innumerable. Halfway through the series, Gajser managed to overtake Maxim Renaux and take P4.
Prado crossed the finish line one second before the regulation time had elapsed, so three more laps had to be completed. Gajser started pushing again and hit Seewer when they entered the same track. In the last lap Gajser succeeded, who overtook Seewer on a better track. A few corners later, Prado also had to face the axe. Gajser thus won the second series and also the GP. Seewer and Prado finished second and third in the final standings.
We also soon received an update on the condition of Jeremy Van Horebeek. He crashed in the first heat and was taken away with a broken rib and a perforated lung. The last GP of this year will be held in two weeks (Sept 4) in Afyonkarahisar, Turkey.
