Update: Joël Smets responds to mechanic Tom Vialle's illegal action
During the previous post a video was shown in which Tom Vialle's mechanic shows a pit board to his rider in an illegal place. This happened last weekend during the MX2 in Hyvinkää. According to FIM rules, this is not allowed and could have led to sanctions. However, it will not come to that because the statement from Vialle's team manager provides a clear explanation.
It was Joël Smets himself who put the action of Vialle's mechanic in the right light. A few hours after our post, Smets responded via social media with a telling statement about whether or not Vialle's mechanic had reported it illegally.
Joel Smets: "All, Fair comment! But because the pit lane was (too) short to be able to signal properly for all teams, the FIM gave permission to signal at that other place as well. So there were several teams that indicated that way, including HRC for Tim Gajser. "
