RJ Hampshire wins AMA 250 National at Budds Creek, and how did it go for the title?!
The eighth race of the AMA 250 Nationals just took place at Budds Creek in Mechanicsville, Maryland! This was won by the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna pilot RJ Hampshire! For the pilot on the Husqvarna, a one – two result and the associated 47 points were enough to win the overall!
In this overall he was ahead of the well-performing Japanese Jo Shimoda, the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki pilot finished third in the first series and his victory in the second series was just two points short of the day's victory. Jett Lawrence was third on the podium, the HRC Honda pilot did not have his best day but managed to limit the damage to Jo Shimoda with a second and third place and 42 points! In addition, his other competitor for the title, brother and teammate Hunter Lawrence, had a total disappointment and only scored 25 points. As the great champions Stefan Everts and Ricky Carmichael both say: “You want the title on your bad days”, something Jett Lawrence may have done today!
Guillem Farres Plaza
For some, 25 points is an embarrassing result, for others 23 points is a fantastic result! Last week it was announced that the former “FMX4Ever” pilot; Guillem Farres Plaza would replace the injured Nick Romano with the Monster Energy STAR Yamaha team. With little to no time to work on the setup of the Yamaha, the Spaniard rode to sixth and thirteenth place! A great debut and good for 23 points. Immediately a sign of how strong our “EMX series” are and what a good pilot on a good motorcycle can show. There were no points for the Estonian Jorgen-Matthias Talviku today with twenty-seventh and twenty-second places.
