Rick Elzinga secures the title
After Marco Stallmann (1995), Nick Kouwenberg (2015) and Roan van de Moosdijk (2019), Rick Elzinga is the fourth Dutchman to win the European 250cc Championship (formerly the European Championship 125cc). In Saint Jean d'Angely, the Hutten Metaal Yamaha rider finished eighth during the first round, which was enough to secure the title. Lucas Coenen wins the heat without many problems, Yago Martinez comes second ahead of Quentin Marc Prugnieres.
After dropping the starting gate for the first heat, Hakon Osterhagen and Cornelius Toendel got off to the best start. The Fantic riders take the lead before Martinez attacks Toendel. The riders collide and the Norwegian falls! Elzinga starts around tenth place and he is in good hands after Toendel's crash. Osterhagen is allowed to hold the lead for almost ten minutes, but after he makes a mistake, Coenen takes over the lead. The Husqvarna rider wins without many problems. Martinez finishes second, the KTM SB Racing rider has to fight with Maxime Grau. Later in the race Grau loses the connection and on the last lap he sees his compatriot Prugnieres pass. Grau crosses the finish line in fourth ahead of David Braceras.
Dave Kooiker scores six points, the Staphorster is fifteenth. Jens Walvoort (26th), Scott Smulders (29th) and Marcel Conijn (31st) do not score. Robert Fobbe does not reach the finish.
