Rick Elzinga to Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 team
The newly crowned EMX250 champion has signed a contract with the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 team of Hans Corvers. He will be the teammate of Jago Geerts and Thibault Benistant in MX2023 in 2.
Elzinga has worked his way up the Yamaha Racing pyramid with podium finishes in the EMX125, on a YZ125, and a stellar EMX250 title campaign on a YZ250F, winning four rounds, winning five races and finishing on the podium six times en route to the crown. As European EMX250 Champion, Elzinga has earned his place on the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 team for his first full season in MX2.
Rick Elzinga: "Becoming a factory driver is so motivating. I did a few MX2 rounds this year as a wildcard rider, and I loved it. Racing at the highest level with Yamaha's most prestigious MX2 team is a dream come true. It has given me an extra motivation boost to give even more, and I am determined to get the job done in MX2 next year."
