MX2 Race 1: Vialle for Geerts
After an attentive opening lap, Tom Vialle took the lead and would not relinquish it. Jago Geerts and Kevin Horgmo completed the top 3 during the MX2 opening round in Uddevalla, Sweden. Kay De Wolf and Liam Everts finished 7th and 8th respectively.
Kevin Horgmo raced to his third holeshot of the season. Simon Längengelder, Tom Vialle and World Cup leader Jago Geerts also had a good start. After a poorer performance by Vialle yesterday, he was now in a good rhythm.
The Red Bull KTM rider quickly took the measure of Horgmo in the opening lap. One lap later Geerts did the same at Horgmo. Due to a slip by Jago, he briefly lost second place to Horgmo. Geerts recovered quickly, but Vialle was able to easily control and eventually won easily, 6,7 seconds ahead of Geerts.
Behind the leaders, bad luck kept Andrea Adamo (knee injury) and Roan van de Moosdijk from a strong ranking. Van de Moosdijk was fifth when he had to deal with a defective rear brake. Entering the pit lane for repairs had taken too much time and Roan ended up in 13th.
In the final phase, Längenfelder put a lot of pressure on Horgmo, but the F&H Kawasaki seasonal revelation held up. In the meantime, Mikkel Haarup had also cut his teeth on Längenfelder, while Thibault Benistant finished 6th in an exciting final sprint.
Both De Wolf and Everts had a mediocre start. Kay suffered a finger injury after the qualifying race, but still finished 7th. After a regular race, Liam Everts finished 8th. Kay Karssemakers was also doing well. The Hitachi KTM Fueled by Milwaukee rider finished 10th.
