Jeremy Seewer wins first series in Saint-Jean
For the first time since 2019, the MXGP caravan returned to Saint-Jean-d'Angély. The typical French track was perfect for Swiss Yamaha rider Jeremy Seewer. He won the first series ahead of Tim Gajser.
The holeshot also went to Jeremy Seewer for the fourth time this year. Romain Febvre and brand new world champion Tim Gajser followed in his wake. Coldenhoff and Flanders finished ninth and tenth respectively. Gajser now seemed freed from stress and was pushing Febvre's rear wheel early on.
In the meantime, Jeremy Van Horebeek and Brent Vandoninck rode around in the thirteenth and fourteenth spots. By the way, “The Jerre” is working on his 252th GP of his career. On the fifth lap Gajser manages to get past Febvre and takes P2. It was Mitch Evans who passed a few seconds after the top three. He seems to be getting in better shape for the MXoN.
In lap eight we suddenly got an image of Van Horebeek lying in pain at the end of the starting strip. He disappeared from the match and received assistance from medical services. On a circuit with few opportunities to overtake, we had to wait for small mistakes from others to gain places. Evans made that mistake and disappeared to P7.
Jeremy Seewer briefly caught Gajser's front wheel with one lap to go, but remained calm and won the first heat ahead of the Slovenian. Febvre finished third ahead of Prado and Renaux. The second series will follow later at 17 p.m.
