Coenen sixth, Elzinga is doing good business!
With sixth place, Sacha Coenen was the best Laaglander during the first round of the eighth race in the European 250cc Championship. Rick Elzinga did not score well in ninth place, but due to the retirement of Lucas Coenen, Cornelius Toendel and Andrea Bonacorsi, the Yamaha rider is doing well. The first round was dominated by Haakon Osterhagen, who won a round for the second time this season.
In time training, David Braceras is the fastest, but Osterhagen takes the best start in the first heat ahead of Lucas Coenen and Maxime Grau. At the exit of the first corner, Grau makes a mistake, causing many riders to fall. In addition, Andrea Bonacorsi disappears from the match, just like the Frenchman himself. At the front, the biggest Coenen tries to take over the lead, but Osterhagen does not let that happen easily. In the first full round, Toendel runs into problems and has to leave the race early. Not much later, Coenen also drops out and that gives Osterhagen a safe lead to finish the race. Quentin Marc Prugnieres and Camden McLellan fight for second place until the checkered flag. The Frenchman takes this ahead of South African and KTM SB Racing rider Yago Martinez. Braceras completes the top five ahead of Sacha Coenen. Elzinga has not had the best start and he works his way back from 26th to ninth. Dave Kooiker scores points with a thirteenth place. Unfortunately, the other Dutchmen did not score.
Tomorrow the second round will be held at the Glimminge Motor Stadium.
