Coenen brothers: focus on MX2 next year
As expected, the Coenen brothers are ready to move to the MX2 World Championship. After just one season in the EMX250 class, the Brussels twins plan to go for the big time in 2023. Both confirm their intention to participate in their first MX2 season next year.
The Belgian brothers, who are currently riding strong in the EMX250 class, do not plan to stay there for long. They confided to us that they plan to participate in the MX2023 World Championship as early as 2. The team (or teams?) have yet to be confirmed.
But the intention and the necessary speed are there, as evidenced by their recent performance in the category at the Loket GP. “We decided to ride in Loket to learn,” Lucas explained to our colleague Andy McKinstry. “The results weren't really there but it didn't matter, we could see the speed was there. So the intention is certainly to ride in the MX2 next season,” confirms the rider who is currently third in the provisional EMX250, the precursor to the MX2.
“What I want to do next season is the MX2,” his brother Sacha also announces. “I like MX2 because the races take place over two days. This gives you the opportunity to get more action on the track alongside the best riders in the world. We can't wait to see what it will bring!
