Brent Van Doninck and Kay de Wolf win on the Keiheuvel
The two-day event on the Keiheuvel was over again. Even though several GP riders were still in Finland yesterday for the MXGP there, a lot of people had hurriedly traveled to Balen. Brent Van Doninck, who was doing very well, won the Inters 500 class, and in the quarter liters the victory went to Kay de Wolf.
Interest 250
Ivano van Erp rushed away from the starting gate like a man possessed during the first series of 250 and was followed by Kay de Wolf and Liam Everts. With those two top players in the wheel, you would think that his empire would not last long, but the Dutchman did not flinch and did not relinquish his small lead. Van Erp won ahead of De Wolf and Everts. Van de Moosdijk crossed the finish line in fourth place.
In the second series the roles were reversed. Kay de Wolf led the field with Liam Everts and Ivan van Erp following close behind. De Wolf now left no opportunities for the opponents and went to the finish as leader with a wide lead over Everts. Van Erp now finished third.
Interest 500
Pauls Jonass was highly motivated and led the field at the start of the big bikes. Yentel Martens, Glenn Coldenhoff and Brent Vandoninck followed the Latvian cautiously. It became increasingly smaller for the pursuers and clearly won the series ahead of Van Doninck and Coldenhoff.
A false start and a restart marked the first moments of the second series. Brian Bogers didn't let it get to him and took the lead after a successful attack on Glenn Coldenhoff. A little later, however, Bogers disappeared from the race and it was Van Doninck who led the field. He won this second series ahead of Coldenhoff and Jacobi. The final victory went to a strong Van Doninck who has been doing very well in recent weeks. Pauls Jonass came second in the final standings, Coldenhoff is third.
