Doensen wins, Kooiker pulls out all the stops
It also became a double for the KNMV during the last competition of the European Championship 85cc North-West. Gyan Doensen (2-1) won the match ahead of fellow countryman Dex Kooiker (1-2), who unfortunately fell short of the top eight in the final standings. Freddie Bartlett (5-3) stood next to the Dutch on the podium. Ian Ampoorter became the best Belgian in Velke Uhere, he finished fourth in the daily rankings, narrowly ahead of Jarno Bervoets (7-4).
Bad luck for Dani Heitink, he misses direct places for the final by only seven points. Heitink won two matches this year but suffered an injury in Rhenen, which meant he could not play in Kaplice and Velke Uhere.
Next time:
The best eight (8) riders per region are guaranteed a place in the final. The remaining places will be filled later by FIM Europe. The final will be held on July 16-17 during the MXGP of the Czech Republic.
