Vialle wins opener, Geerts second
Despite a terrible position behind the starting gate, Jago Geerts was able to limit the damage with a nice 2de place. Yet there could have been a lot more because the Balenian was the fastest man in the race. A steering error ultimately killed him. Liam Everts finished neatly 6th.
The holeshot in the first series went to Kevin Horgmo ahead of Simon Längenfelder and Tom Vialle. Both Jago Geerts and Liam Everts had solid starts around 5de place. Initially, Längenfelder fought well, but in the second round Vialle was able to take full advantage of a mistake by the German. Although Horgmo had done everything he could to pull away, Vialle closed the gap with the leader in no time and the F&H Racing Kawasaki passed easily.
Horgmo soon felt the hot breath of his pursuers and in the 6de Geerts killed two birds with one stone in the round when he tackled both Horgmo and Längenfelder to advance from P4 to P2. Jago headed towards Vialle and appeared to be preparing an attack when he slipped away from the front with 10 laps to go. As a result, the Yamaha factory rider had to work hard again. He managed to close the gap again to Vialle, but in the end he arrived 1,4 seconds after the Frenchman.
AFTER a lonely race, Längenfelder finished third ahead of Horgmo and Rubini. An excellent Liam Everts recorded his third top-5 finish since Maggiora. Mikkel Haarup, who had a poor start, had to settle for P7. Kay Karssemakers finished 14th.
