Siep de Wit passed away
After a short illness, Siep de Wit passed away this morning. De Wit, a well-known figure in international sidecar cross, was 76 years old.
Siep de Wit made a name for himself in sidecarcross as a frame builder. Together with Gert Brouwer he founded BSU, which was involved in frame construction for sidecar cross. Sidecarcross legends Sergis and Willemsen, among others, won their world titles on frames from BSU (Brouwer-Siep-Ural).
MXmag wishes everyone around De Wit a lot of strength in the near future.
N.B. correction 30/06;
Reader Frans Verhoeven drew our attention to a factual error in the above message. It concerned Gert Brouwer, who acted as financier in the BSU project and Ferry Brouwer, who had not previously been appointed. The latter, who is not related, was active in road racing and was the driving force behind the Yamaha Classic Racing Team for many years.
MXmag apologizes for this careless confusion.
