MX2: Smooth victory Vialle for Geerts
The first round of the Indonesian GP was perfect for Tom Vialle. Jago Geerts, Simon Längenfelder, Thibault Benistant and Kevin completed the top 5. The second heat will take place at 9:10 am.
Head start Vialle for Kay De Wolf, Geerts and Horgmo. While Vialle immediately started to move forward, De Wolf came under fire from Geerts. On the left before the start, the Husqvarna rider slipped and lost second place. Behind the leaders, Mikkel Haarup made good progress, but the fast Dane, chased by Horgmo and Längenfelder, would not occupy third place for long. Haarup had to leave soon afterwards with a technical problem. `
Although championship leader Geerts closed the gap with Vialle to less than a second, a mistake by the Belgian threw a spanner in the works. The first heat was an ordeal for the sick De Wolf. After a collision with Horgmo, he and the Norwegian lost third and fourth place respectively. Simon Längenfelder thus secured third place. Benistant, who had started poorly, would eventually finish fourth.
De Wolf saw seventh place slip through his fingers at the end when he almost fell off the front on a big jump. Kay Karssemakers crossed the line in 9th place.
