MON: Selen is also supreme in Deurne
Jippe Selen has again won the race in the MX2 youth class in Deurne. Selen achieved the full score in a not very exciting race at the De Galgenberg circuit. With this he strengthened his leading position in the championship standings to a lead of 98 points. Just like last week, second place went to Sjef Platte, who took second place twice in the championship. The Spaniard Roger Ponsa saw the checkered flag twice and was able to take his place on the lowest step of the podium. The Belgian Troy Dendooven finished fourth in the daily rankings with two fourth places. He was followed by Luc Pullen who had finished fifth twice in the heats.
First heat
The hole shot was for Platte ahead of Dendooven, Ponsa, Selen and Pullen. In the first full lap it was Dendooven who was the first to make a mistake. This caused him to drop to fifth place. Selen had already passed Ponsa and started his hunt for the lead. While Platte and Selen already had a lead, Dendooven quickly straightened up and passed Pullen again. Just before the halfway point of the moto, Selen took over the lead, after which Platte crashed and the moto seemed decided. Ponsa was already well behind. Dendooven was well behind again with Pullen close behind him. Selen again lost a large part of his lead due to a fall. However, he was on his machine quickly enough to hold onto first place. He then finished the heat calmly without losing sight of Platte and won the heat. Platte again had a large lead over Ponsa and was able to finish the heat from behind without any threat. Ponsa came third and well behind, Pullen managed to stay close to Dendooven for a long time. However, in the final phase of the heat, Dendooven still pulled away from him and finished fourth.
Second heat
It was now Selen who immediately took the lead and once again showed that he is by far the strongest this season. Behind them were Pullen, Ermers and Dendooven. Selen quickly rode away from the rest and once again took the full score this day by winning the heat. Behind it, it was soon Platte again who steamed up to second place in the heat. Ponsa quickly showed up in the top five and would eventually finish third again, well behind Platte. Dendooven was in third place for several laps during the early stages of the heat, but again he was unable to stay upright. After his fall he still had to be wary of Pullen. He managed to hold off Pullen and crossed the finish line in fourth place, a few seconds behind Pullen. The first five of the first heat also finished in the same order in the second heat.
