MON: First victory of the day for Bram van den Hoek
Last weekend the next round of the championship battle in the MX2 / open inters classes was on the program in Wanssum. This time it was Bram van den Hoek who was the strongest based on the second heat and achieved his first day victory of this season with a second and first place in the heats. Jacky Tausch seemed to take the day's victory again after the initial phase of the second heat, but due to a fall he ended up behind van den Hoek and he had to make do with second place in both the heat and the day's classification.
Loeka Thonies also achieved third place in the daily rankings with two third place finishes in the heats and was also able to take her place on the podium of honor for the first time this season. The battle for fourth place was also decided based on the second heat. Erik de Bruyn decided this battle in his favor with fifth and fourth place in the heat. He was just ahead of Jeffrey van Kempen.
In the MX 2 inters the day's victory went to Ilja Rutten. After first place in the first heat, second place in the second heat was enough for him. Second place went to Jelle Bankers. After a third place in the first heat, he was the first to see the checkered flag of the MX 2 inters in the second heat. With second and third place in the heats, third place went to Jamie Lucas. Kevin Buitenhuis and Kyle van Zutphen completed the top five.
First heat
It was Tausch who was away the fastest at the start, ahead of De Bruyn, Thonies, Rutten and Van den Hoek. In the first full lap, Thonies moved up to second place. Behind them, Van den Hoek passed Rutten and also de Bruyn to finish third. Halfway through the heat, Tausch had a six-second lead over Thonies. Van den Hoek followed at his rear wheel. Well behind, De Bruyn slowly but surely lost more and more ground. First Rutten passed him and in the following lap he also saw Lucas pass him. Three laps before the checkered flag, van den Hoek passed Thonies to give chase to Tausch. However, the gap was too big and Tausch won the heat with more than five seconds ahead of van den Hoek. Thonies now followed well behind in third place. Rutten managed to hold off Lucas in the final laps and saw the checkered flag in fourth.
Second heat
It was Tausch again who had the best start. Now, however, Van den Hoek was right in his rear wheel. Thonies, de Bruijn and Rutten followed behind. In the first laps Tausch and van den Hoek fought a hard and beautiful battle for the lead. However, just as it seemed to be decided by Tausch, he crashed and the lead went to Van den Hoek. Tausch was now within six seconds. Behind him, Thonies already had to leave a considerable gap and he was again followed at ten seconds by the trio de Bruyn, Rutten and Bankers. Both Rutten and Bankers passed De Bruyn and fought for the heat victory at the MX 2 inters. Bankers then quickly passed Rutten and gave chase to Thonies. There was no change in the situation at the front and it was van den Hoek who took both the heat and the day victory for Tausch. Bankers was unable to close the gap with Thonies and it was Thonies who finished third again. Bankers saw the checkered flag in fourth place. Behind it, de Bruijn again fought past Rutten and van Kempen followed at his rear wheel.
