Karlis Reisulis wins, Valk comes fourth
In the training sessions, Karlis Alberts Reisulis had to settle for sixth fastest time in his group. The Yamaha rider was unstoppable in the race and the Latvian won the first round in Teutschenthal. In the last lap Alexis Fueri comes close through a straggler to the Fantic rider and comes second ahead of Ferruccio Zanchi and Cas Valk. Ivano van Erp's race unfortunately ended prematurely due to machine failure.
The best start goes to Julius Mikula but he is quickly attacked by Zanchi, Valk and Van Erp who quickly passes his compatriot for third place. Zanchi takes over the lead and Van Erp also leaves Mikula behind. Valk is attacked by teammate Fueri. However, Marco Maddii's drivers have no answer, including Reisulis, who works his way forward from ninth place. The third MJC rider manages to take third place in the second full competition round. He then passes his teammates in front of him and the Latvian builds a safe lead. Van Erp briefly takes over second place, but then his machine stops and he disappears from the race. Zanchi has no answer to Fueri's attack later in the match. He is then more than eight seconds behind the leader Reisulis. In the last lap a straggler brings back the tension but Reisulis wins ahead of Fueri and Zanchi. Valk crosses the finish line in fourth place ahead of 14-year-old Janis Martins Reisulis! Besides the aforementioned Lowlanders, we see no Belgians or Dutch in the main program at MSC Teutschenthal.
The second heat will be held tomorrow morning, at 09:40 am. Can Van Erp recover after dropping out in the first moto?
