Haverdil wins and Vlaeymans is the new leader
The seventh race of the KNMV Open Dutch Quad Championship was held in Belgium! In the supporting program of the Belgian GP Sidecars, Rick Haverdil managed to win the competition. The CRQF rider finished first and second, winning ahead of the Belgians Jan Vlaeymans (2-3) and Mike Ver Boven (3-6). A bad day for Joe Maessen, he did not score and lost the lead in the standings to Vlaeymans.
First heat
When the starting gate drops for the first heat, Maessen takes the lead ahead of Haverdil and Gijs Wentink. Vlaeymans has not had a good start and has to fight back from midfield. Maessen's machine then starts to smoke, but he still manages to hold on to the lead. Haverdil loses second place to Gymano Besems and he is given the leading position moments later when Maessen retires. Ricardo Phoelich enters the top three and he looks to join Haverdil. He has to because Vlaeymans is also coming forward strongly. With one minute left on the clock, Phoelich stops and leader Besems also follows in the last lap! Haverdil wins the heat ahead of Vlaeymans and Ver Boven. Wentink finished fourth ahead of Bart Steenbergen.
Second heat
In the second round Ruben van Lith is the best starter and he takes the lead ahead of Haverdil. Maessen comes to a standstill with Marc de Vries in the first round. In the third laps Haverdil takes the lead and Phoelich enters the top three. A little later, Maessen finally connects with the last rider, making it clear how big the Limburger's deficit was. Phoelich gets up to speed in the second half of the race and works his way into the lead. The victory goes to him ahead of Haverdil and Van Lith. Vlaeymans crosses the finish line in fourth place ahead of Richard Ruttenberg, but Maessen does not reach the finish line again.
The next race will be held during the Zwarte Cross weekend in Lichtenvoorde.
