Gyan Doensen takes the 85cc title
Despite the warm weather conditions, Gyan Doensen managed to keep a cool head. The Limburger finished fourth in Rhenen, but that was enough for the title. Dex Kooiker wins both heats and thus wins the final ahead of Douwe Van Mechgelen (3-2) and Jarne Bervoets (2-4). After two seasons without this championship, we finally have a successor for Cas Valk who won this title in 2019.
1e some
From pole position, Kooiker makes a very good start and the Staphorster takes the lead ahead of Luuk Wouters, Jannes Vos and Van Mechgelen. Not the best start for Bervoets, but he moves forward very well and the Belgian comes second in the first round. Kooiker is in charge and he will not relinquish it. Bervoets follows the entire race from a distance and in the last lap he comes even closer, but no position is changed. Van Mechgelen follows his compatriot and finishes third ahead of Doensen and Ian Ampoorter who had a best start. When Ampoorter took fifth place, the top four had already disappeared from view.
2e some
Due to the heat, the competition management has decided to shorten the matches by 5 minutes. Doensen starts the last round of the season with a seven-point lead over Van Mechgelen. The best start goes to Dex van den Broek, but Kooiker wins the Ecomaxx Holeshot Award again. Van Mechgelen comes second in the first round ahead of DVS rider Bervoets and Ampoorter. In the initial phase Van Mechgelen manages to follow the leader, but later he takes a safe lead. Kooiker wins both heats and with that still good things in the final standings. Van Mechgelen comes second ahead of Doensen, who gets an attack from Bervoets. The Husqvarna rider makes a mistake when entering the starting area. This mistake is quickly corrected and Doensen still crosses the finish line in third place, which is enough for the title.
Next time:
The championship is over and the riders will now focus on the EMX85 competitions. For some there are also ADAC Junior Cup 85cc competitions on the program.
