Elzinga back in the lead, Martinez wins!
A special first round on the Ernee circuit was won by Yago Martinez. The Spaniard stayed on the bike where the leaders regularly made mistakes. The KTM SB Racing rider wins the first heat during the fifth race of the European 250cc Championship ahead of Rick Elzinga. Jorgen-Matthias Talviku crosses the finish line in third place, Sacha Coenen is the best Belgian with seventh place.
Dave Kooiker scores by crossing the finish line in sixteenth. Elzinga takes over the lead in the standings from Cornelius Toendel, who does not get further than ninth place.
The best start goes to Mike Gwerder and the Swiss is followed by Kooiker, Lucas Coenen, Toendel and Martinez. Coenen immediately goes on the attack and briefly takes over the lead from Gwerder. However, this returns quickly, but in the first full lap the WZ driver makes a mistake. Coenen takes the lead, but after about ten minutes the Husqvarna rider crashes. Toendel takes the lead, followed by Martinez at a considerable distance. However, the Norwegian makes a mistake and falls, but miraculously he is able to continue quickly and remains the leader. Once again the Fantic rider distances himself, but three laps later he makes another mistake. Martinez takes the lead while Elzinga gets closer. This makes for an exciting final phase, but the Spaniard does not relinquish the lead and wins. ELzinga comes second ahead of Talviku who becomes even more dangerous for Elzinga! Quentin Marc Prugnieres takes fourth place ahead of Andrea Bonacorsi. No points for Wesly Dieudonne (26th), Boris Blanken (33rd) and Marcel Conijn (34th). Lucas Coenen does not reach the finish.
The second round will be held tomorrow morning at 11.55 am, then we will know who will be victorious at the Circuit Raymond Demy.
