Preview: EMX65-EMX85 visiting Emmen
Picking a favorite for the third race of the 85cc North-West European Championship is like finding a needle in a haystack. That is simply impossible, we will let the motocross riders battle it out among themselves next Sunday at the Hydrowear MSV Motodrome Emmen. We only list the participants.
EMX85
The best ten riders in the final standings of this 'championship' are assured of a starting place during the final in the Czech Republic. It is clear that the series is taken seriously, especially in Belgium and the Netherlands, as there are eleven Lowlanders in the top twelve! Only the Swede Freddie Bartlett manages to join this battle. Gyan Doensen is the leader in the standings after the matches in Denmark and Lommel. The first race was won by the Husqvarna rider, on “Circuit De Heeserbergen” he finished fourth behind three Belgians! Where the circuits are disappearing rapidly, there are plenty of faster riders. Maxime Lucas was the boss in Lommel, he won both heats. The DAM Racing driver did this both times with a safe lead. Ian Ampoorter and Douwe Van Mechgelen were also on the podium. Could the KNMV riders follow this example in Emmen? There are no fewer than 71 riders on the list of participants, 18 of whom are from the host country.
EMX65
The Netherlands also has the lead in the lightest class thanks to Kenzo Jaspers. The first match in Denmark he had to let the German Neo Nindelt win. In Lommel, the AK Bouw-Hutten Metaal Junior Team driver won with a second and first place. British sensation Harry Dale currently occupies second place in the standings, twelve points behind the leader. Teunis Spijkerman had a very strong performance in Lommel, he finished second behind Jaspers. The Roofcon Racing driver has only three points less than Dale. The best Belgian in this championship is Torre Van Mechgelen, the VM Racing driver is fifth in the standings. Hidde Hutten currently occupies seventh place and teammate Dion Brakke is eleventh. The rider from Staphorst had a tough race in Denmark, but in Lommel things went much better. Last weekend he won the first race of the German 65cc Championship. There are no fewer than eleven Dutch people behind the starting gate, Belgium is represented by three participants.
