MCLB: Regional favorite David Segers wins in Gooik
AMC Dworp's very first MCLB organization was an immediate success. No fewer than 38 Inters came to Hof te Wijngaard in Gooik. Among them are some big names such as Jens Getteman and Ken De Dycker. As a GP rider, the latter was of course one of the crowd pullers in the AMC Dworp organizations at the legendary Kesterheide for many years.
The setting may have been very different today, but the sporting tension was no less, on the contrary.
Segers comes out on top
It was local hero David Segers who took command in the first heat ahead of Wietse Brackman and Jorne Tytgat. The latter was replaced by Brad Descamps after one lap. In the background, Ken De Dycker had to fight through the field of participants after a poor start.
Halfway through the heat we had a change of position at the front and it was Wietse Brackman's turn to take over the lead. In the meantime, Getteman had focused on the 3de place nestled, albeit at a respectable distance from the leading duo. Three laps from the end, Brackman crashed while overtaking a doubled rider. David Segers could benefit from this! The Standing Construct driver was able to win with a bonus of 16,5 seconds ahead of Brackman. Getteman came third and De Dycker fourth. VMCF rider Mattéo Puffet finished fifth.
Getteman demonstrates
Jens Getteman was clearly warmed up for the second heat at Hof te Wijngaard. The East Flemish - Gooik was also a kind of home race for him - would lead from start to finish. There were some changes in position behind Getteman. That's how it had to be Segers and Mark Boot make way for an advancing Ken De Dycker after two laps. However, De Dycker would never be able to threaten Getteman. Wietse Brackman was not lucky this time. He fell at the start and fell to the ground again halfway through the first lap. The Leon Sagaert Husqvarna rider would not get further than 8th place.
In the final phase, Segers managed to pass former GP winner De Dycker and regain second place. Keeno finished third, Boot fourth and Puffet again finished fifth. Segers had his second place in the 2de heat enough to take the overall victory, for Getteman and De Dycker. The organizers immediately got a very nice podium with this trio!
In the Inters 250cc, Jens Van Laere 12-13) was always the fastest. The MB Team KTM rider finished ahead of Jérome Biets and Maxime Colson.
Sidecars: Vanluchene-Bax logical winners
Also nice people at the sidecars in Gooik. With Marvin Vanluchene and Robbie Bax, there were even former world champions behind the starting gate. Remarkable was the participation of Ken De Dycker, coupled with baking player Henk Goderis. The duo Vanluchene-Bax logically won the two heats, each time ahead of Gert van Werven and Ben van den Boogaert. Yens Delmotte and Joey Valcke, the leaders in the MCLB championship, were allowed to take their place on the final podium.
