MXGP: Coldenhoff takes Spanish pole ahead of Prado
After his pole position in Portugal, Glenn Coldenhoff can also start from pole in Arroyomolinos. The Yamaha rider wins on Saturday afternoon ahead of Jorge Prado and Maxime Renaux. Brian Bogers is good for eighth place and Calvin Vlaanderen has to be satisfied with thirteenth place, just behind Jeremy Van horebeek. Tim Gajser gets into trouble after a crash, the World Cup leader starts from eleventh place.
The best starter during the qualifying match is Seewer, the Swiss is followed by Prado and his teammate Mattia Guadagnini, Pauls Jonass and Coldenhoff. The 31-year-old Brabander is clearly looking forward to it because he quickly works his way to the rear wheel of team colleague Seewer. At the start of the first full lap, Seewer makes a mistake that allows Coldenhoff to take the lead. Guadagnini made a mistake and lost places, allowing Gajser to enter the top five. However, he doesn't have much fun because he jumps off the track and falls!
Prado needs some time to pass Jonass and Seewer and then the GasGas driver focuses on leader Coldenhoff. The difference between the two is a maximum of 2,7 seconds and Prado then reduces that gap little by little, but it is impossible to catch up! Coldenhoff wins ahead of Prado and Renaux, who is eleven seconds behind the winner. Guadagnini recovered very well in the closing stages and passed Seewer for fourth place. Seewer completes the top five.
Both competitions for points will be held tomorrow. The first heat starts at 14:15 PM, the second follows at 17:10 PM. The races can be watched LIVE via MXGP-TV, the EurosportPlayer and the Belgian PlaySports also show all heats live! The NOS has a live stream via their website, but only the MXGP class.
