V.d.Boomen/V.d.Wiel win NK Sidecar Oldebroek!
Jarno v.d. Boomen and Henry v.d.Wiel won the National Sidecar Championships in Oldebroek by winning both heats. Brusselers/Vaes came second and the young Ruben van Werven, who rode at home, came third with baking player Nick Maas.
A 38 sidecars broke down in the first heat for a tumultuous first race. V.d.Boomen/V.d.Wiel remained the coolest and won the heat, followed by Alex Brusselers who again performed strongly with temporary baking player Levi Vaes and took second place. Gerrit van Werven/Niels Wesselink crossed the line in third place in a race in which a lot happened. We saw, among other things, a big crash by Tjoelker/Nijenhuis and several combinations that turned over and got stuck on the difficult course. The young Ruben Van Werven also suffered from this. He first crashed into a straggler and later the sidecar capsized again. More than an eighth place was not possible for Van Werven/Maas in this round, but the home sidecar would put things in order in the second round.
In that second heat, Van Werven/Maas came on strong and moved into the lead amid loud encouragement from the home crowd. However, they were unable to match the pace of V.d.Boomen/V.d.Wiel, who took home the win at the end of the heat. However, Van Werven/Maas became 'best of the rest' with a second place and this allowed them to take the podium at the end of the day with a total of third place in the day's results. Behind Van Werven/Maas, substitute player Levi Vaes delivered another top performance alongside Alex Brusselers in this second heat. Brusselers/Vaes took third place on the cross track 'de Bargen', which was strewn with deep ruts and holes. Together with second place in the first heat, this meant second place in the daily results in Oldebroek.
