Three in a row for Joe Maessen
The fourth race of the KNMV Open Dutch Quad Championship was won by Joe Maessen. It is his third victory of the season, he wins on the beautiful circuit of Oldebroek ahead of Jan Vlaeymans (1-2) and Ricardo Phoelich (4-3). Maessen has the lead, the difference remains only six points.
First heat
From pole position, Maesen takes the best start, the Limburger is followed by Rick Haverdil and Vlaeymans. The Belgian manages to take second place from Haverdil in the second round. The gap to leader Maessen is eliminated and in the fifth laps Vlaeymans becomes the new leader. Later this turns out to be perfect timing because moments later a red flag follows, bringing the race to an early end. Vlaeymans wins ahead of Maessen and Haverdil. Fourth place goes to Ricardo Phoelich who manages to pass Valentino Roks in the second laps.
Second heat
The second start is Roks's best start, followed by Haverdil and Maessen. The leader in the standings manages to immediately work his way into the lead in the first lap. Vlaeymans started the race in fifth position and needs three laps to take second place. Leader Maessen already has a five-second lead and he only manages to increase it. Haverdil has held third place for a long time, but Phoelich has other plans. They change positions but Haverdil comes back but two laps before the finish it is Phoelich in third place. Haverdil will still be busy because Marc de Vries and Roks pass him, leaving him outside the top five.
A great compliment to the organization because during these events it becomes clear once again that hard work is rewarded. Everything has been taken care of down to the last detail, the circuit is beautifully located and the atmosphere was particularly good at Stichting Circuit Oldebroek. That bodes well for the Dutch Masters of Motocross on Easter Monday!
