Gajser on pole, Coldenhoff and Bogers in the top five
For the fifth GP of the season, Tim Gajser starts from pole position. The Slovenian managed to win the qualifying race at the Arco di Trento circuit ahead of Jorge Prado and Mitch Evans! Glenn Coldenhoff crosses the finish line fourth ahead of fellow countryman Brian Bogers. Jeremy Van Horebeek does well again, the BEta rider crosses the finish line in seventh!
From right to left, Prado crosses the starting field to be the first to dive into the first corner. However, Evans slips through and takes the lead. The Spaniard takes the lead a little later, but after a mistake the Australian comes back. Behind Coldenhoff, Ruben Fernandez comes out of the first lap fourth, but the 114 Motorsports driver makes a mistake and does not finish. Gajser works his way forward in a controlled manner and takes the lead from his teammate with two minutes to go. The four-time world champion wins and starts from pole for the second time this year. Prado crosses the finish line second ahead of Evans, who is of course very happy with that. Coldenhoff takes fourth place after being chased by Bogers for the entire second half of the match. The Husqvarna rider has to settle for fifth place. Van Horebeek finishes seventh while Calvin Vlaanderen crosses the finish line in eleventh. Brent Van Doninck will start tomorrow from fourteenth place.
Both competitions for points will be held tomorrow. The first heat starts at 14:15 PM, the second follows at 17:15 PM. The matches can be watched via Eurosport2 and EurosportPlayer. The NOS has a live stream via their website and PlaySports also broadcasts it with commentary from Leon van Gestel and Joel Roelants.
