Dennis Dierckx about the upcoming VLM competition in Herenthout
This Saturday April 23 and Sunday April 24, the BCD-MX Team is organizing a VLM competition in Herenthout. It is Dennis Dierckx and Ben Vervloesem who pull the strings to set up this organization.
We spoke with Dennis Dierckx about the upcoming event.
MXMag: Last year there was a motocross in Herenthout for the first time in 27 years. How do you feel about setting up the competition this year?
Dennis Dierckx: Last year our first organization with the BCD-MX Team was in Herenthout and it immediately had a lot of success with a lot of local visitors and of course the residents of Herenthout themselves. After all, it had been 27 years since there was any cross country in Herenthout and so that was positive. For this year's organization I was inspired by the carnival parade in Herenthout. I have seen that this is very popular and that it is a popular carnival spot here in the Kempen.
MXMag: Has the circuit changed from last year?
Dennis Dierckx: It will be completely different from last year. It will also be slightly larger because we now have more space available. The circuit will therefore also have a completely new layout.
MXMag: What major names are at the starting gate?
Dennis Dierckx: The main guest driver is Ken de Dycker. I asked him for confirmation, but Keeno has indeed confirmed that he will drive in Herenthout. Last year I wanted to drive myself, but I noticed that it is virtually impossible to combine it with my own organization. So I'm definitely not going to do that.
I always try to create something cool for the riders. For example, I think it is important to create a great atmosphere at the cross through fun promotions on site so that a lot of people come to the event. We also have a nice list of important sponsors that I'm not going to mention. I'm afraid I'll forget one, you can always find them in the program booklet and on the banners along the circuit.
MXMag: Your father also helps with the organization?
Dennis Dierckx: Yes, he constantly says that I'm crazy for wanting to do all that work, but he's here every day to help (laughs).
The VLM race in Herenthout is held on the circuit “De Bergen” behind the Gulf gas station with the address: Bergen, 2270 Herenthout. The riders' park opens on Friday at 16:00 PM.
